St Benedict's Gold Award

St Benedict’s RC Primary School has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to sport with the prestigious sportscotland Gold School Sport Award. The school, which is situated in the Easterhouse area of Glasgow’s east end, received the award for its commitment to creating an environment which allows children from all ages and abilities to flourish through sport.

With over 420 pupils all children are offered the opportunity to participate in a wide and varied programme of sports throughout the year, in addition to an outstanding number of free after school clubs offered by staff, parents and community partners through various grants and donations.

“We are very aware of the cost of the school day and feel strongly that this should not be a barrier to our children reaching their full potential in school and sport.” Stephen McKerrall, Acting Principal Teacher.

The school’s Sport Captains gave a short presentation to our children and invited guests Councilor Burke, Councilor Kelly and Dawn McAuley from sportscotland before being presented with our plaque and flag. Everybody at the school should be proud of their efforts in making sport available, free and accessible to all.
