St Benedict's Primary School has had a successful Pupil Council for many years.. The Council consists of one representative elected from each class within the school and Mrs Brogan acts as the Staff Representative and Pupil Council Co-ordinator.
Every child from P1-7 has the opportunity to become a Pupil Council member with prospective candidates presenting a short talk to their class on the qualities they will bring to the Council. Elections are held at the beginning of September. Council members usually meet on the first Wednesday of the month.
Council members are requested to provide their class with a suggestion box in which suggestions/issues arising within the class can be placed. Before each meeting the box should be emptied and the Class Representative should note issues raised by the class. During the course of the Pupil Council meeting issues from each suggestion box will be discussed and the Council will decide which to prioritise.
