The St Benedict's School and Parent Council (SPC) is one of many ways parents can get more involved in our thriving school community.
Traditionally SPCs are set up by parents to raise money to improve the school environment for our children and St Benedict's School SPC is no exception. Over the years we have raised many thousands of pounds, which have been spent on improving equipment and facilities in the school.
Support the school
Money raised by the SPC has helped fund sports equipment, musical instruments, school buses, the building of school sheds and interactive white boards and projectors for every classroom.
Make friends
At St Benedict's we also believe that our SPC should have another function and that is to bring the children, staff and parents together socially. To this end we run a number of events starting with a quiz night for the parents, children, staff and their families.
All these events are organised and run by volunteers. We have a team at the heart of the operation who meet a couple of times a term in the evening. Some events are organised by trustees, others are organised by one or two parents who think it would be a nice thing to do.
Keep in touch
There is an Open Meeting each term when anyone can turn up to hear what is in the pipeline or suggest new ideas.
Once a month we send home a School Newsletter outlining what is going on including information regarding the SPC looking for offers of help. You can check the School Noticeboard, Twitter and website for the latest information too. After that you can decide how much or how little you want to get involved: maybe you can bake a cake, sell some raffle tickets or help plan a Summer Fair. It is up to you, we hope you will come along and enjoy some events and the SPC will make yours and your children's time at St Benedict's that little bit more fun.
If you are interested in helping out or joining the school SPC please contact the school office.
