Primary Eco Team
Welcome to the Eco Committee. Pupils from primary 2 up to primary 7 have been working hard this year on our Eco Committee and have some great suggestions on ways that we can make sure sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at St Benedict’s Primary School. We started our Eco campaign off with an assembly to tell everyone about what we do on the committee and to share our visions and targets for the year ahead.
The Eco committee meet a few times each term and our role is to represent the views of our classmates on the eco group and also to make decisions about ways that we can look after our school and the environment and ways to make it better. We have already worked really hard towards achieving our green flag and are working towards our 2nd Green flag, but we need your help! The group agreed the following targets for the session ahead;
· Keep St Benedict’s School litter free and encourage people to keep the local area tidy.
· Encourage pupils and staff to be active and make healthy choices.
· Look after our school grounds and make it a place that is nice to play and learn in as well as encouraging wildlife to live there.
· Reduce the amount of waste we produce and recycle more.
· Save power and water by turning off lights, projectors, taps and other appliances when not being used.
St Benedict’s Eco group has been actively running for nearly 6 years now. The aim of the group is to make St Benedict’s Primary School a more sustainable school and to help educate pupils, staff and the wider community about the role that they play in making our community more sustainable and to encourage the staff, pupils and community to live healthier lifestyles.

The committee is run by a Lead Team of pupils from all year groups and is made up of pupils, staff and members of the community. This group decide the action plan for the year and lead the projects that arise from it.
