Clothing Grants
Clothing Grants of £47 per child are available to eligible students who attend Primary, Secondary and Additional Support Needs Establishments.
Free School Meals
Students who are eligible for Free School Meals are given the cash equivalent of £1.70 per day to spend on a meal. Children who attend nurseries may also be entitled provided that they are in receipt of one of the below qualifying benefits and the establishment signs the application to confirm that the child has a full time place.
All school meals in Glasgow's primary and secondary schools are provided by Cordia (Services) LLP, part of Glasgow City Council. The dining area in schools is called the Fuel Zone and offers a great value service where pupils can enjoy a tasty and healthy lunch.

Students who are 16 before 1 June and who are eligible to apply for an Education Maintenance Allowance will NOT be entitled to a Clothing Grant for the next session beginning in August. However they may be entitled to Free School Meals.
Important information about your grant payment
Your clothing grant payment will be paid directly into your Bank, Building Society or Credit Union account by an electronic transfer. If you have had difficulty opening a bank account you can apply to open an account using Scotcash. Scotcash can be contacted on 0141 276 0525 quoting ref GCCG.

The payment will be made to the child's legal guardian. Only one Clothing Grant can be paid per child per school session August to June. This includes Clothing Grants paid out by other local authorities in the same school session.
Please note we cannot pay money directly into Post Office Accounts or clearing accounts.

Application forms for the different age categories are available to view and print on the right hand side of this page. The form applies to both clothing grants and free school meals.

The closing date for Clothing Grant Applications is 31 March 2017. Applications received after 31 March 2017 will NOT be processed. An application form will become available in June each year for the next school session beginning in August.
Primary School Meals
Primary Fuel Zones offer a choice of three options each day and menus run on a three-weekly cycle, allowing pupils to experience a variety of meals. We can also cater to specific dietary requirements including Halal, vegetarian and special medical diets.
All primary 1-3 pupils can enjoy lunch absolutely free, while primaries 4-7 can receive a three course meal with a drink for only £1.90.
Fuel Zones also provide a Breakfast Club where pupils can start their day with cereal, toast with spread and/or jam, a piece of fruit and fruit juice. For those not currently entitled to a standard free school meal, including P1 to P3, there is a small charge of £2 per day. For siblings, the charge is £2 for the oldest child and £1 for subsequent children.
Throughout the year Fuel Zones are transformed for fun theme days celebrating different events in the calendar. Popular theme days include the annual Burns Supper and international theme days which provide an educational and enjoyable experience to pupils.
